THE HISTORIC 1884 NEW ORLEANS COTTON EXPOSITION ORGAN
Buried in the walls of Immaculate Conception Church are the remains of a great Pilcher pipe organ originally built for the 1884 Louisiana Cotton Exposition. This great organ was so powerful, the New Orleans Picayune reported, in September, 1884, that the organ was responsible for the collaipse of the roof of the main fair building on the night the fair closed.
