Part of the roof caved in and there is some flooding in the church. It may
have to be demolished. The pastor’s home is also flooded and may need
to be demolished.

There is 10 feet of flooding at church and pastor’s home, both may need
to be demolished.
CHRIST THE KING LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1001 West Esplanade, Kenner

Major roofing repair is needed; there is extensive water damage from rain
and serious mold problems.
CHURCH OF THE PINES (LUTHERAN) WAVELAND, MS.
There was a storm surge of 6 feet in the church. The structure may
not be sound and may need to be demolished. Interim

Church was severely damaged because of proximity to 17th.Street Canal levee
break. Building may need to be demolished. Congregation is meeting on Sunday

EPIPHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH, New Orleans
The church had 2 feet of flooding and the interim pastor’s condominium
had water damage from rain.

FELICITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 1816 Chestnut
St. New Orleans
Roof structure over organ and rear of altar was blown apart. This area is
fully exposed to the elements.
Historic 1880's Hook and Hastings Organ took on water and is badly damaged.
A "Blue Roof" tarp, installed over the case for weeks after the storm
Remains of organ were removed from sanctuary and placed in storage in mid-January
2006.
FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3700 Cleary, Metairie, LA
The church suffered major roof damage. The pipe organ and electronic organ
were both damaged. The pastor’s home in Chalmette needs to be demolished;
many members in Chalmette area and Lakeview area may have homes demolished.

GLORIA DEI LUTHERAN CHURCH, New Orleans
The flooding at Gloria Dei reached 8 feet and there is extensive mold in the
church. The parsonage next to the church has water damage and mold.
GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, Biloxi
There is little damage at the church, but pastor’s home was totally
destroyed.
GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH on Canal Blvd at I-610 in New Orleans

There is heavy water damage at the church; pastor’s home was destroyed.

JACKSON AVENUE EVANGELICAL CONGREGATION
(Report from congregation member and contractor) Heavy damage to
sanctuary building. Two stained glass windows were damaged / destroyed and
the vestibule was pulled away from the building. The Sunday school building
was not heavily impacted and all of the church's historical records are safe.
Congregation began holding service again last week and repairs to damaged
building are in progress.

Church president reports church had about one foot of water in sanctuary.
Wicks pipe organ damage included three pipe chests, old and new blower, and
possibly bottoms of the 32' foot wood pipes.

CHURCH on St.Charles Ave.
From church website: Steeple destroyed and gaping hole in roof allowed water
to infiltrate sanctuary.
Church plans to rebuild and is asking for community support. Info is available

ST. MATTHEW LUTHERAN CHURCH, Gulfport
There is a hole in church narthex, water damage from the roof, and
water in the storage room. The educational building has been destroyed.
Church badly damaged and pastor, Rev. Arthur "Red" Ginart believed
washed out to sea as he rode out the storm with his beloved parish church.

The bell fell in the steeple, causing roof and water damage. Some glass has
been broken, shingles are missing. Pipe organ heavily damaged.
There was extensive damage to the church -- windows blown out, roof missing
several shingles, flooding of 2 feet in church, steel roof ripped off most
of fellowship center and water damage in offices (1 foot of flooding). Pastor’s
home had 2 feet of water that did not stay
Part of the roof on fellowship hall was torn off.
